Adult Mobile Intensive Care Patient Transport
In 2002, Monroe established its ground-based inter-facility Critical Care Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Transport Service. A select group of Monroe paramedics, trained to the CCEMTP level and/or with 80 hours of specialized MICU training (including advanced airway procedures) now provide this vital service to patients throughout the community whenever needed. Patients needing intensive cardiac care (including those of Strong Memorial Hospital’s heart transplant program) are transported in one of Monroe’s three specially designed vehicles which feature advanced airway equipment - bringing a more specialized level of cardiac & ALS care into the region.
